Mike, I'm impressed you handled yourself as well as you did with this attack against you. It's not easy to take such strong opinions of others so calmly.
You should not have jumped ship out of goal for you said yourself that you need more of a challenge in net. This league provides that for most teams defensive play is weak. You contradicted yourself there. You want a challenge for your such a good goalie in your eyes but you won;t stick through the hard times.
Vinnie is a great example of perserverance, he plays his best every night and has had his struggles but the guys in his dressing room sure know that they don't have any drama with him.
Mike since your skill is strong for this league don;t think that players want lessosn from you...I think you should try stating the positive more to your teammates and other league players rather than telling them what they should do ...
You also need to remember that you have created all of this yourself. For more than one reason there are players that find your on ice and even your attitude in the locker room to be destructive and demeaning. We don't know you well enough to know better.

Ian Wall played for team White orignally and created a reputation as a puck hog. "Ian thought he had to do it all himself" He joined the Hogs the second year and at first tried to hard to do it all himself...by mid season he was creating plays scoring goals and liked by his new team. People can change but need an open mind. So open up that mind and look at yourself and see what others have such challenges with.

Thanks to all who have opinions on this thread and for not being overly outlandish.

Vinnie is a great example of a guy who can play goal in his late fifties, with a glass eye, and two bad knee joints,.....

It's true. I've heard nothing but good things about Vinnie from his ex-teammates from the hornets last year. Vinnie could be the posterboy for the NCHL. And don't worry about the age thing. I noticed that most of the goalies in this league are over 40, (except Satan's netminder). As Mike the goalie/dman/centre/winger once told me; "Dave, you could be a good goalie; the only thing holding you back is your age!" lol ya just gotta love the guy.

ps. what's your gaa there vin?

ATG you sure have the answers to everybodys comments and a hell of a lot of spare time to be throwing out sarcastic banter to everything people have said here. You must have a government desk job or something. You'll definately not have much spare time next Thursday as you will be kept busy pulling pucks out of your net.
It would be appropriate to ues the holy book to sit the holy water on that we drink in the changeroom after games, now wouldn't it.
drama? what drama. Question

Thanks Gravy. I think as we get older we learn to relax and enjoy life more. I guess the surprise triple bypass heart surgery in 2006 makes me realize there's more to life too. Its been a fun season, and I think most of the guys in the league have a good additude, no matter if they're superstars or can hardly skate.
My GAA is 5.13, but I'm 1 game over 500.
Hey, I see Im now 2nd line!

Icehog i don't react to things in bad ways very often i am a very even keel kinda guy i think if you had me in your lockeroom with me playing out you would see how relaxed and joking i am. I think i get bad rep because last year i hardly ever passed which is prolly why i finished last year with 20 goals and 4 assists. I found that when i was playing in net i was telling people where to be and what to do where as when i play out our line talks together about where each of us would like one another to be. This year i am making a lot more passes and when I am skating with the puck if other players around me aren't skating then we will talk on the bench about making sure our feet are moving. I think a good portion of the players in this league think i dive when to be brutally honest i have never done so. What I do is something that i was always taught and that is if you feel a stick glove anywhere on your body skate harder. If a player sticks his body between you and the puck then move your feet and he will receive an interference penalty. I also think ATG makes a great point that the skilled player needs to be here in this league because thats who the newcomers learn from.

Gravy, if i had a choice of any goalie in the league to have i think it would be you. As for the goalie fight i just wanna know who is gonna cross the centre line cause who ever does gets extra penalty minutes

Mike

Seriously? No wonder the Chiefs do so poorly. They would actually put a rooster in net....

Well, ya know,.. roosters have got pretty fast reflexes. (They're kinda cocky though). Ya, so andy, after playing for the Chiefs the other night I must say you have my deepest sympathies. I don't know how you've managed to keep your gaa down, you must stand on your head every night. LOL!!!
Actually, I had alot of fun and we would have won if the Pucks hadn't scored more goals than us. see ya
Hey Pucks, tell us the secret of your team's phenomenal defensive system.
